In the process of using Windows, we may have encountered such situations: the system restarts, shuts down or becomes blue screen, black screen without any warning or notice. Then you can no longer log on to the system, or get into an endless loop of blue/black screen + reboot. This case, you may first think that this is probably caused by hardware failures. However, that is almost always caused by conflicts between hardware drivers or errors of system kernel modules. The former is usually shown as a blue screen (+ restart), while the latter is usually shown as an automatic restart by default.

The runtime library (RTL for short) is literally the library file that a program needs when it's running. It is usually provided in the form of dynamic-link library (DLL for short), and generally includes various functions that are commonly used in programming. It is a practical way to implement the concept of sharing function libraries in Windows. The extensions of these library function files are mainly *.dll, *.ocx (ActiveX control library), and *.drv (old system driver).

The DriverStore folder (C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore) is used to store the third-party drivers for hardware by Windows. When you manually install a hardware driver, the corresponding driver files will be copied to this folder. When you uninstall this driver, the files should be removed too. However, if you just update a driver, then Windows will keep the old versions of this driver in case you encounter a problem and roll it back in the future. But the problem is that we almost never need to use those old drives.

When Microsoft Office's activation fails or it runs into unsolvable problems, we often need a clean and complete uninstall to get everything ready to start from scratch. While to completely uninstall Office, neither of the official approaches (Uninstall Office from a PC, Manually uninstall Office) offered by Microsoft is worth wasting time to try. Instead, in addition to those universal software uninstalling tools like Total Uninstall and Uninstall Tool, you can also choose to use the more specialized Office Uninstall instead.

WinNTSetup is a very classic Windows system image installation and deployment tool for Windows and Windows PE, developed by JFX from Germany. It enables user to install Windows OS directly in Windows or Windows PE, without the assistance of any CD/DVD, USB and other storage devices. For this reason, WinNTSetup is often considered as the best tool for implementing Windows installation from local hard disk - that is, a universal hard disk installer for Windows OS.

The startup of programs (including viruses) includes at least three layers: 1) the Startup items floating on the top surface (as bare as our skin); 2) starts by disguising itself as a system service (like our muscles); 3) disguises as a drive file to run itself (like our bones). Here the thing to be considered is - let any program start with system boot as a Windows service.

File fragmentation on disk significantly slows down the file access (read/write) speed, especially in working environments where source code libraries and compilations are frequently updated. So defragmenting software is one of the common tools that computers must use. There are so many defragmenting programs in the market - commercial, free, or open-source. Among them, Diskeeper and PerfectDisk, both with a long development history and solid technologies, are recognized leaders - any other similar applications pale by comparison.
