File fragmentation on disk significantly slows down the file access (read/write) speed, especially in working environments where source code libraries and compilations are frequently updated. So defragmenting software is one of the common tools that computers must use. There are so many defragmenting programs in the market - commercial, free, or open-source. Among them, Diskeeper and PerfectDisk, both with a long development history and solid technologies, are recognized leaders - any other similar applications pale by comparison.

When you've tried many ways to clean up and optimize your Windows system, but have seen no obvious results (system or program launches and runs slowly, or even crashes easily), do remember to perform defragmentation to your disk, then everything may be fine. As we all know, there have been so many free or commercial disk defragment software, such as Diskeeper, PerfectDisk, Contig, JkDefrag, UltimateDefrag, Defraggler and Ashampoo Magical Defrag.

As a matter of fact, most computer users only use about 20% files in 80% time, that means most of the content on your hard disk keeps in a dormant state in most of the time. By placing the rarely used files/folders onto the slower tracks on your drive (i.e.: near the center of the circle) and moving the frequently used ones to the areas that can be quickly accessed (external rim), we are able to realize the real optimization to disk performance.

To keep the disk performance, the most important thing what we should do is defragmentation on a regular basis. We use PC almost everyday, that means disk (hard disk) debris will be more and more, this can cause the system becomes slower, starts up slowly, the system errors increase, and even collapses sometimes.
