If someone says you want to use this kind of tool to verify the security of passwords or recover them, that would be a joke, I think. After all, a rule for secure enough password is very simple - Uppercase + Lowercase + Number+ Symbol (and > 8 characters), there is no need of any tool to validate it at all. The same for wireless network password, restoring it is meaningless - just reset the router to default, which is the most efficient way. So, obviously they are designed for passwords cracking only.

The god knows who is using L0phtCrack as a security auditing tool to do the so-called password strength testing or recovery. I conclude that 90% of individuals are using it to violently obtain the passwords itself (through methods of dictionary, brute-force, hybrid attacks, rainbow tables, etc.). Whatever you's like to use it for, what we just can't deny is that it's the most outstanding one in similar software.

As we all know, the common way of deleting a file/folder is just to mark its directory entry or occupied cluster area. So the fact is all these so-called "deleted" files/folders are still lying there. And using the ancient DOS command 'Undelete' or Norton's Unerase command can be restored with ease.

Whenever your passwords should not be written on the paper and then put under the keyboard, caught in the pages of notebook, or even just recorded on the computer with Windows Notepad... In addition, the more and more passwords will become much easier to be forgotten over time. Therefore, we need a well-designed, reassuring password managing utility.

Any deleted files, as long as they have not been overwritten, in theory that is completely can be recovered, of course, that needs to pay the corresponding cost. Therefore, for very privacy data, such as photo, video, office file... you'd better use special software to shred them rather than just right click to delete.

Advanced RAR Password Recovery (ARPR for short) is my first and favorite RAR archive file password recovery tool. In the era of RAR, its popularity and fame outdistanced any other similar software, when there ware not the all-in-one successor Advanced Archive Password Recovery - both of them are Elcomsoft's series of products.

For archived files (mainly RAR or ZIP format), that is very embarrassed and depressed in two cases. First, the archive file downloaded from the Internet prompts you need password to extract it out; Second, some important archive was protected using your own password, but you just forgot it. If so, turn to the Advanced Archive Password Recovery for help.

What should we do when forgot or do not know the passwords of .rar format archived files? The only practical and efficient solution is to use specially designed software to recover/remove/unlock the passwords - usually this is also called brute force attack.

Hide My Drives (formerly called DiskLock) allows to protect any kind of drive (including USB flash drive, Floppy, HDD, SD Card, Mobile HD, CD/DVD, even network or RAM Disk) under Windows, by hiding or locking (password-protect, write-protect). At the same time, it also can disable their AutoRun function.
