Microsoft Visual Studio (VS for short) consists of a series of development kit products produced by Microsoft (written in C++ and C#), and is currently the most popular IDE (integrated development environment) for developing applications on Windows platform. As of writing this post, its latest release is Visual Studio 2019, based on Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.

At the Build 2015 developer conference, in addition to the release of Microsoft Edge browser and the preview version of the brand new Windows 10, the biggest surprise was the release of Visual Studio Code - a free, open-source and cross-platform code editor for programming modern Web and cloud applications. Its direct competitors are Sublime Text, Atom, Vim, Notepad++, Brackets, etc. In order to improve its competitiveness, it even provides keyboard shortcuts installation for them all.

Bootstrap is a concise, intuitive and powerful front-end development framework based on HTML, CSS and JavaScript libraries, cooperatively developed by the designers Mark Otto and Jacob Thornton from Twitter, which makes the Web development easier and more efficient. It became popular the time it was launched. Many companies including NASA, MSNBC have started to use this free and open-source project very early. Even some popular mobile development frameworks are developed on the basis of Bootstrap source code, just feature some improvements on performance.

Atom is a free, open-source and cross-platform text & code editor specially designed for programmers, released by GitHub, written in Electron (CoffeeScript /JavaScript / Less / HTML). It clones all the important features of the most popular code editors in the market at present (especially SublimeText's Goto Anything, Goto Symbol, Goto Line, Command Panel, shortcut keys, and more). Finally, Atom maybe become a new industry darling for developers in various fields.

The JetBrains (formerly IntelliJ) from Czech Republic has offered many excellent IDEs for various website and application developers. For example, the IntelliJ IDEA has been recognized as one of the best Java developing tools in the industry.
