HOIC (AKA: H.O.I.C., short for High Orbit Ion Cannon) is a free and open-source network stress testing and DoS/DDoS attacking application for Windows, Mac and Linux. It was written in Visual Basic and C#, developed by Anonymous (a hacktivist collective) during the Operation Payback after federal agents shut down Megaupload, and released as LOIC's predecessor.

Proxy Switcher is a powerful, professional-level proxy server searching, testing and managing software. It automatically downloads a proxy list from the Internet (displaying the country each proxy server resides in at the same time), analyzes whether it is available, and displays some status information like connection speed in real time. Especially, it allows you to quickly switch between network environments such as proxy connection and direct connection, which is very convenient.

There are a lot of similar software as Hide ALL IP (their working principle is just a proxy). But to be honest, they are not very useful, or even completely useless in many countries with strict Internet censorship. Because the general HTTP/HTTPS/SOCKS5 proxies, even the so-called highly anonymous ones, almost were all blocked by the powerful network firewalls of some countries, without exception.

As a web proxy software, the essence of Hide My IP is to hide (by changing) your real IP, it has two major design intentions:
  • Access censored or blocked websites in your country
  • Protect your online privacy, so as to enjoy private/anonymous web surfing

We all knew that, Lantern just abandoned the most perfect and mature P2P work mechanism it initially used, turned into another normal commercial VPN client with excuse: their IPs were blocked too often, they can't afford. I want to ask - how is it possible for the original P2P mechanism to be blocked? AppNee should say - this commercialized world is never in short of excellent commercial VPN services. So, if Lantern refused to turn around, we could only watch it become a passing meteor. And, it's time to turn to SoftEther VPN again.
