Silver Night's Crusaders is a fan-made, Castlevania-based free game for PC and Android platforms, developed by True Role Dreams (Crimsondeath) from Spain using OpenBOR game engine. It isn't a metroidvania, instead it's more of a side-scrolling arcade action game, which splits into several stages rather than a massive sprawling map.
Building on several classic Castlevania game titles (notably Castlevania: Rondo of Blood), Silver Night's Crusaders has added new characters, scenarios and improvements and compatibility, greatly improving the fun and playability of the game. It has smooth operation, exciting action design, elegant graphics, well-designed monsters and bosses, multiple characters to choose from, and a high level of difficulty. In addition, it supports two-player simultaneous play and joystick operation.
In Silver Night's Crusaders, there are three playable characters (a witch, a vampire and a vampire hunter) with entirely different fighting styles, weapons and special abilities, and many familiar character designs, collectibles, enemies and bosses from the classic official Castlevania video games. But unlike traditional Castlevania games, it does not come with RPG element or metroidvania style exploration. Instead, it's a straight up arcade-like, side-scrolling and hack and slash adventure.
Silver Night's Crusaders gives Castlevania players a lot of fun, including a fully fleshed out story, impressive pixel art animation, well designed levels and excellent audio design. Meanwhile, it's an extremely hard game with some brutally tough boss fights and lots of tricky insta-death platforming sections, so you will have to have some real skills or use some cheat codes in order to see the final credits.
