Secret Maryo Chronicles (short for SMC) is an open-source, cross-platform 2D side-scrolling Mario clone game, which was inspired by the famous Nintendo Super Mario Bros. series (especially the Super Mario World). It's written in C++ and based on OpenGL, supports Windows, Mac OS X, Linux (Unix) and many other platforms (can be easily ported).
In addition to the HD graphics and background music, Secret Maryo Chronicles' uniqueness also lies in using the scalable image (and thus is applicable to all kinds of high resolution screens), the original sound effects and built-in advanced level editor.
This game has rich default, interesting levels and additional ones, especially with the help of the powerful built-in level editor, you can not only edit all the existing levels, but also can create your own new levels from scratch. More exciting thing is that you can even activate the level editor by pressing F8 key when playing in the game to edit this level in real time.
There is no doubt that Super Mario Bros. is an everlasting classic in the hearts of lots of players, and there are countless homebrew or remake editions made by fans players from all over the world.
