RizomUV (formerly called Unfold3D) is a high-powered UV mapping/unwrapping software developed by Rizom-Lab from France, which can intelligently and automatically allocate UV within seconds. It does not rely on the traditional geometrical wrapping methods, but automatically, accurately and quickly deal with UV mappings through calculating, which often can be used in 3D games design.
RizomUV is originally a standalone application that is not restricted by any 3D software. It makes data exchanges by importing the OBJ file format that is well supported by popular 3D software. Since version 10, it was divided into two editions: RizomUV VS (Virtual Spaces) and RizomUV RS (Real Space). Each edition is specially designed for different user groups, but they both come with the functions developed for digital artists working in game development, VR, visual effects, animation and so on fields. RizomUV RS (Real Space) has all the capabilities of RizomUV VS, and additionally adds some tools for users who need to deal with the CAD data.
RizomUV's prominent functions and features include: a new, efficient wrapping algorithm; three new Auto-Seam algorithms that can automatically cut and split different kinds of grids; mouse presets that can match multiple DCC applications, such as Maya, 3ds Max, Modo, Cinema 4D, ZBrush, Blender, Rhino, as well as further customize functions; Lua scripts support that enables users to create links with other applications; support of multiple UV channels management and UV unwrapping; UDIM layout, and so on.
