i.Scribe is a small, portable and cross-platform (Windows, Linux and Mac OS X) free desktop E-mail client that integrates with contact database and calendar. It's a classic app that was first released in 1999. In 2003, i.Scribe led to a commercial, full-strength edition InScribe, which comes with Unlimited Send/Receive Accounts, Unlimited Filtering, Multiple Identities, Outlook (MAPI) Export.

InScribe supports all the major Internet mail protocols, and uses international standards as far as possible. It is officially portable, which means it can be used in any removable storage devices without having to install it repeatedly and reconfigure it everywhere. Besides, it also comes with regular updates to fix the newly discovered problems or to add features.

In terms of safety, you don't have to worry about viruses.
